This is a new addition to the garden to make sense of the positions of the Yew hedging. This picture is taken from the garden gate of Garden House and now the vista is complete.

Jasmin with her new cygnets, but this picture is more important as in the background is Mr John Lambert, the former Head Gardener and Chauffeur to Sir Oswald Birley. The young girl is Joanna, the authors daughter. By the way the father of the cygnets was Simon la Swan, the two residents of the lake in the next photograph.
Perhaps a view of Charleston at some time in the past or rather just before the school pageant, anyway it's the lake in the background.
A view back over the gardens towards the manor from the high ground over the main drive. The dovecot can be seen in the centre of the picture.
Part of the Old Orchard, the trees of which are host to the really large rambling roses.
Part of the woodlands, these too are underplanted with millions (no overestimate) of bulbs and corms and if you have wondered how all this looks so immaculate....
